University President Maurie McInnis has engaged in private conversations with student leaders, as well as the faculty senate chair, about Yale’s attempts to settle with the Trump administration — a venture that has faced widespread backlash from students, faculty and alumni.
Michael Farina, the chair of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Senate, wrote in a Friday email to the News that he has spoken with McInnis about the potential settlement and felt optimistic.
